Press invitation to the opening of Malmö’s Northern Harbour
The expansion of the Northern Harbour is one of the biggest construction projects in Malmö’s history, and the City of Malmö has invested SEK 1 billion in the new harbour terminals. The expansion has been co-financed with EU funding as part of the TEN-T trans-European transport network. One million square metres of land are now available in the Northern Harbour for the development of a modern logistics hub.
Specially invited guests and representatives from the media are invited to the opening ceremony on Wednesday 7 September.

11:00 Organised trip to the Northern Harbour (the boat for the media departs at 10:30 – see below).
11:00 Bus departs from the car park on Hemsögatan to the site of the opening ceremony.
11:30 Guests arrive.
12:00 Welcoming address.
12:30 Opening ceremony with Frank Jensen, Lord Mayor of Copenhagen, and Ilmar Reepalu, Chairman of Malmö’s City Executive Board
13:00 Lunch.
14:30 Departure for Malmö Central Station.
Transportation and interview sessions
A special boat to the Northern Harbour for the media will leave from Smörkontrollen (the long-distance bus terminal at Skeppsbron) at 10:30. Frank Jensen, Ilmar Reepalu, Katrin Stjernfeldt-Jammeh (Municipal Commissioner for Malmö), Johan Röstin (CEO of CMP) and Lennart Pettersson (Deputy CEO of CMP) will be onboard. The trip to the Northern Harbour will include a guided tour of the docks. When the boat arrives at the site of the opening ceremony, short guided bus tours of the harbour area will be provided.
For media representatives travelling directly to the Northern Harbour by car, shuttle buses will depart from the car park on Hemsögatan from 11:00 onwards. The bus journey to the site of the opening ceremony will include a short guided tour of the harbour area.
Interview sessions with Frank Jensen, Ilmar Reepalu, Katrin Stjernfeldt-Jammeh, Johan Röstin and Lennart Pettersson will be held in the press marquee next to the opening ceremony marquee from 11:15 onwards.
Boats back to Smörkontrollen will leave at 13:00 and 14:30. Shuttle buses from the site of the opening ceremony to the car park on Hemsögatan will leave every 30 minutes from 13:00 onwards.

Photographs from the opening day will be available on the evening of Wednesday 7 September. A link to the images will be e-mailed to all those who are pre-registered. Due to international maritime security regulations (the ISPS code), which came into force on 1 July 2004, all those who wish to attend the opening ceremony must pre-register. This also applies to the media. Please pre-register by e-mailing Christina Malmberg, christina.malmberg@aspekta.se, no later than Friday 2 September.
Media accreditation
Media accreditation is required for access to the Northern Harbour and to take part in the boat tour. Accreditation of pre-registered journalists and photographers will take place in one of the press marquees on Smörkontrollen and at the car park on Hemsögatan. Press ID must be shown. Your accreditation badge should be worn so that it is clearly visible at all times while within the restricted area.
