Carol Homden, Coram Chief Executive, said: “Time is of the essence for a child in care who doesn’t know whether they are going home or not. That is why Coram welcomes the Family Justice Review’s recommendation that decisions on their future will need to be made in six months, though we believe more resources will be needed to ensure this can be achieved.

“We are also delighted to see the Review recommends the further roll out of the Family Drug and Alcohol Court (FDAC), run by Coram and The Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust. Evidence shows that parents who have been through the FDAC system are more likely to stop their substance misuse than those in ordinary care proceedings, meaning fewer children are taken into care. We would like to see more families have access to this system.”
