IDK x Cordae Reunite on New Single/Video 'Prince George'
Visionary rapper-producer IDK and Grammy-nominated lyricist Cordae join forces for the release of “Prince George,” a laidback yet emotionally potent new single dropping today via Cosmos Music. “Prince George” serves as a taste of music from IDK’s yet-to-be-announced new album and will be accompanied by a cinematic video directed by IDK and Jacob Parra-Mena in Rome.
Rooted in the spirit of Prince George’s County, Maryland, where both artists were raised, “Prince George” is a personal anthem about outgrowing your surroundings while carrying them with you. The track is built around a rare 1971 soul sample (Bob Carson’s “A Lonely Place”).
“Cordae and I go way back to the DMV days when his name was Entandre. It’s been crazy to see how far we’ve come,” says IDK. “This song was an effortless collaboration — and being from where we’re from, the video being shot in Rome is a full-circle moment”.
The release follows IDK’s Top 50 Viral Charting hit “CLOVER” and arrives on the heels of Cordae’s 2024 album Crossroads. The video, shot in the heart of Rome, delivers a cinematic contrast to the song’s themes of striving, struggle, and resilience, capturing the cultural tension between aspiration and origin.
“Prince George’s County is where we’re from. This song is about the hustle it takes to make it out, and the different types of people who try to do so”. – IDK
“Prince George” is out today on all platforms via Cosmos Music.
