Say Lou Lou release their self-directed film for 'Blue Ruin'
Say Lou Lou unveil their latest creative venture with Blue Ruin, a short film they wrote and directed as a visual counterpart to the first track on their new album 'Dust'. Inspired by the song’s narrative, the film captures the aftermath of a messy breakup, spiraling into a dramatic—and often absurd—journey through the characters’ fragile, overactive imaginations.
The film is featured in PAPER MAGAZINE, along with an interview with the girls.
The duo elaborates: ‘Blue Ruin’ tells the story of a messy breakup that takes a couple on a dramatic, and sometimes ridiculous, journey through her fears of ostracism and gossip and his jealous fantasies. We wanted to frivolously play with the concept of fragile and heartbroken minds letting their imagination run too wild. The film loosely follows the narrative of our song ‘Blue Ruin’, and is an homage to early 2000’s indie film making.
Say Lou Lou released their third studio album 'Dust' on Nov 22nd, which intricately explores the complexities of love, longing, and self-reflection. This album not only marks Say Lou Lou’s return after six years but also sets a new gold standard in intricate indie pop, combining their signature dreamy aesthetics with velvety, vulnerable vocals for a truly unforgettable experience. 'Dust' was highlighted by NPR - All songs Considered, The Fader, Flood, Clahs, KCRW, AV Club, Entertainment Tonight and many more.
