Press Release For Immediate Release 5th November 2009 Search engine optimisation - the magic bullet of marketing The tough trading conditions caused by the global slowdown and recession have highlighted the need for more effective marketing. Every penny spent now needs to work harder for your company than ever before. Search engine optimisation, or SEO, looks like it could be the magic bullet of marketing, getting more people to your website. Research has found that 72% of people using the internet click on the natural results returned by the search engines. Those companies on the second page or more of the rankings only have a 1% chance of being clicked on. Essentially, if your website is not found in the top few, you will miss out. SEO is increasingly the method used to improve your position in the search engine rankings. The big three steps to consider when looking into your SEO strategy are, keyword research, link building and computer human interaction. “Keyword research is where it all starts” says Sean Dominey, head of SEO at www.befoundordie.co.uk. If you do not know what your customers are searching for you will never get them to your site. For example, we were able to help a client increase visitors by informing them that the phrase "Christmas hampers" gets almost 4 times the searches that "Christmas hamper" does.” Once you have incorporated the keywords into your website it is time to start looking at getting links to your pages. This can be done in a number of ways, although buying or swapping links should be avoided as the search engines do not approve of these actions. The final key aspect of online marketing success is to ensure your visitors know what you want them to do when they visit your site. Ensuring the page is laid out in a clear and logical way will increase your conversion rates dramatically. With simple changes to the way you look at your on-line marketing you can see a dramatic increase in the number of people coming to your site. "We have found that companies we work with get on average 20 times more page views and 16 times more visitors a month than those that do not use search engine optimisation. I believe that you would do well not to ignore the value of SEO," he adds.
