PRESS RELEASE For Immediate release 6th November 2009 UK consumers set to pay more for costly real Christmas Trees this year Due to reduced imports from our normal suppliers, the market for real Christmas trees this year looks to be an expensive one. The quantity of Christmas trees being exported to the UK from the larger European Christmas tree growers is this year set to be less than usual. The cost to consumers of purchasing a natural Christmas tree is therefore going to go up this Christmas. Traditionally the link with Norwegian Christmas trees was a ceremonial one. Due to Britain's support of Norway during the Second World War, Norway has provided London with a Christmas tree every year since 1947 for the Trafalgar Square. With a lot of the Christmas trees imported from Denmark, the numbers of trees actually reaching the United Kingdom has dropped due to lower numbers being produced to increase demand. There may be a huge dash for real Christmas trees when they are finally available in the next few months. With the prospect of expensive trees for Christmas, many people will be turning to artificial Christmas trees to fill the gap. Supplier of Artificial Christmas trees Peter Joyce from www.justchristmas.co.uk said “I'm expecting the sales of our Christmas trees to increase this year as people see the value in spending their money on a tree that can be reused every year.” “Real Christmas trees can be over rated with the hours of tidying up after the needles drop just one of the problems that you come across when you take them down after Christmas” he says. “Artificial Christmas trees are increasing in popularity. Because an artificial Christmas tree doesn't shed its needles and can be taken down and stored it makes for a fuss free Christmas and the same tree can be used year after year.” ENDS Editors Notes: Just Christmas is an online supplier of Artificial Christmas Trees that have been in business since 2000. The company are based in Romsey, Hampshire.
