Illuminating Belle Coaches Vehicle Park

Since the early 1920’s, Belle Coaches have been whisking people away to favourite holiday destinations and landmark events across the UK from their base in Suffolk. In order to fulfil expectations they had to manage a seamless operation and provide high standard vehicles that their customers would appreciate. To assist with this, Belle developed a purpose-designed coach depot in Lowestoft that contained a customer information centre, refuelling, cleaning and valeting facilities, and a coach and customer parking. Shortly after completion, WRTL were invited to design the exterior lighting for a new depot and suggest a suitable lighting solution for under the fuel pump canopy by Pearce and Kemp Ltd in Halesworth, who were asked to tender for the electrical installation work on the project by the main contractor, PJ Spillings. Mal Garwood, Contracts Manager with Pearce and Kemp, said: “We had previously been successful with tenders when we had worked alongside WRTL. Nick Wildsmith, a Sales Engineer with WRTL, was approached to organise designs for us, based on some ideas we had over column heights and positions.” Soon afterwards P.J Spillings bid was successful and they were awarded the contract. Belle Coaches and their architect approved the designs produced for the project and an order was placed for the lanterns. Nick Wildsmith explained: “The approval process had taken slightly longer than expected so we had a tight timeframe to deliver as promised. Nevertheless, the installation was completed before the handover date and both the client and main contractor are happy with both the visual appearance of the installation and the lighting performance produced.” The scheme was so successful that soon after handover Pearce and Kemp received an enquiry from a neighbouring site to design a scheme for their property.
