The Pitfalls and Glory of Developing a DIY Landmark Building
The Birmingham Best Practice Club (BBPC) present a unique opportunity for senior representatives associated with the construction industry.
The keynote speaker at the next breakfast meeting will be Neil Edginton a director at Birmingham Development Company (BDC) and BuildAbility (BAL) who will be providing an update on The Cube - an iconic £100 million, 25-storey mixed-use development and final phase of The Mailbox, prior to its opening. Neil will explain why BDC took on the challenges and risks associated with previously untested high-tech systems, complex detailing and innovative construction techniques when others shied away from making such a massive commitment. The presentation will include an overview of the high-risk contingency planning and strategic approach that was required and also lessons learnt. The Birmingham Best Practice Club is the Birmingham branch of Constructing Excellence and provides a platform for exchanging knowledge, showcasing best practice and raising awareness of issues within construction and the built environment. The next BBPC meeting will take place at The Council House, Birmingham on 31 March and commence at 7:30am.
