Jeremy Sumpter Set To Saddle Up For THE UNBROKEN
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
LOS ANGELES – October 15, 2012 – Bass Entertainment Pictures announced that Jeremy Sumpter will play the coveted lead role in the upcoming independent feature film THE UNBROKEN. The screenplay was penned by Emmy-nominated and award-winning writer turned director Kim Bass (IN LIVING COLOR, JUNKYARD DOG, KILL SPEED) who will also direct what he describes as a “fast-paced, youth-oriented, right-against-wrong, love conquers all, white hat versus black hat action flick.” THE UNBROKEN is scheduled to begin principal photography in April 2013 and will be produced by Beautiful Lie Pictures’ Deanna Shapiro (THE LEGEND OF CRYIN’ RYAN, JUNKYARD DOG).
THE UNBROKEN is set in the unforgiving and lawless Arizona territory circa 1863. It tells the story of a young loner (Colt) who risks it all to rescue his beloved mail order bride, whom he’s never met, from a gang of ruthless outlaws led by the cold-blooded killer who murdered his mother and left him for dead the day he was born... his father. THE UNBROKEN is a passion project for Bass who has been a long time fan of the western film genre.
“Sumpter, an avid western horseback rider, gave an amazing audition for the role of “Colt” and quickly became the production team’s first choice,” stated writer-director Bass.
Jeremy Sumpter, one of Hollywood’s hottest and fastest rising young heartthrobs, is best known for playing the lead role in the 2003 P.J. Hogan’s version of PETER PAN, SOUL SURFER and FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS. In addition to starring in THE UNBROKEN, Sumpter has leading roles in the Steve Quale tornado thriller, BLACK SKY, as well as THE CULLING, both in post-production. Sumpter is represented by Innovative Artists’ manager Mark Robert and Derek Kroeger at Felker Toczek Gellman Suddleson LLP.
