May 20, 2014, San Diego, CA – Today, TrustEgg, an online savings platform, announced a partnership with the National Black Church Initiative (NBCI), a faith-based coalition of 34,000 churches, to open one million savings accounts for member’s children. The collaboration will leverage NBCI’s 15.7-million membership base to help bridge the socioeconomic divide affecting the black faith community while showing families that saving for the future is simple and important.

TrustEgg helps families save for a child’s future in a simple, smart and safe way. The easy, online option gives families access to a well-respected fund at Vanguard that earns a market rate of return. There is no minimum and the fees are typically much lower than hiring a financial advisor.  TrustEgg also capitalizes on social media elements and can be easily shared with friends and family who can contribute to the account.

“We’re thrilled to partner with the NBCI to share this simple tool with their large membership base, helping families on their path to financial security,” said Jeff Brice, CEO and Founder of TrustEgg. “TrustEgg is accessible to anyone, independent of background or current wealth status, to start an account. We’re excited to see this partnership change the national savings rate and put one million kids on the path to financial stability.”

Generally, African American families save substantially less over the course of their lives, risking financial health of their children and themselves. The NBCI hopes to change these statistics for the better with this new partnership.

“This is a wonderful addition to NBCI’s portfolio of financial wellness plans. Combining TrustEgg’s expertise and tools with our 15.7 million-strong membership base opens new doors for the African American community,” said Rev. Anthony Evans, NBCI President. “As a leader in housing financial issues for the Black Church, we are in a strong position to convey the importance of savings and TrustEgg’s tools finally present this important resource in a way that speaks our congregants’ language. We are thrilled to see the benefits this partnership will undoubtedly create”

Over the next few months, both organizations will work together through grassroots efforts to engage as much of the black faith community as possible, carrying the message that early financial planning delivers great rewards.
