CTEK partners with Polarium to develop EV and energy storage technology

CTEK, the leading global brand in vehicle charging solutions, has entered into a partnership with Polarium to develop sustainable Energy Storage for Electric Vehicle (ESEV) charging solutions.

Through this new partnership, these two pioneering Swedish companies will work together to develop smart, technologically advanced solutions, combining CTEK’s EV charging technology with energy storage from Polarium, to bring EV charging to more drivers and more locations, especially where EV charging may currently be limited by grid capacity, reliability of supply, space or cost.

Battery energy storage can relieve strain on the grid by filling up when demand is low, then releasing power to charge an EV during peak periods. It can also feed from renewable sources like solar energy and has the potential to provide ‘vehicle-to-grid’ (V2G) charging, where the EV and/or the battery is able to momentarily push energy back to the grid to meet sudden increases in demand, providing valuable support to the grid and additional capacity for everyone, and everything, drawing power from it.

Cecilia Routledge, Global Director - Energy & Facilities for CTEK, said: “We are incredibly pleased to be partnering with Polarium to develop the smart energy storage and EV charging solutions of the future. Developments like this are vital to building a sustainable, fossil free society, and will form an important part of the overall EV ecosystem, that will in turn help secure a cleaner, greener future for us all.”

This is the latest strategic partnership for CTEK, whose rapid growth, passion for innovation and deep commitment to supporting the transition to a greener mobility places them firmly at the forefront of global EV development.

Maha Bouzeid, Business Development Director at Polarium, said: “This is an extremely promising project, and CTEK is the perfect partner for us to explore Polarium’s capabilities in the EV charging sphere. By combining CTEK’s experience in charging technology with our smart energy storage solutions, we will bring the world closer to seamless and universal fast-charging capabilities.”

Over the past 18 months, CTEK has expanded from its home market in Scandinavia and is now operational throughout Europe, with new bases and customers in the UK, France, the Netherlands and Germany all backed by dedicated customer support and after sales teams.

As well as the partnership with Polarium, CTEK is also working on a project to develop solutions for V2G and V2X (vehicle-to-everything) charging and was recently chosen  by General Motors (GM) to design, develop and supply a range of  Ultium branded, level 2 EV charging stations for residential and commercial use.

CTEK has an unrivalled focus on product development and invests substantial amounts every year in R&D, with a dedicated EV Centre of Excellence in Norrköping. By investing in technology and future capabilities, CTEK is continuing to evolve its offering through new products, processes, and services.

CTEK’s smart, scalable EV charging solutions range from individual chargers to large installations of up to 500 chargers employing CTEK’s NANOGRID dynamic load balancing system and remote network management from CTEK’s online CHARGE PORTAL.

”The EV market is constantly evolving, and the technology we develop today will revolutionise charging solutions tomorrow,” said Cecilia Routledge, Global Director - Energy & Facilities for CTEK. ”This new partnership with Polarium is another important step along the road to a greener future, with sustainable transport and renewable energy at its heart. We are looking forward to working together on this.”
