CTT Systems announces orders from airlines to equip Airbus A321 aircraft with the Zonal Drying™ Moisture Control System

CTT Systems AB (“CTT”), the market leader in aircraft humidity control systems, announces Zonal Drying™ airline orders for a total of 15 Airbus A321 aircraft to be retrofitted from December 2017 to June 2018.

Peter Landquist, VP Sales & Marketing, CTT Systems AB, comments: “We are pleased to receive these airline orders for the important A321 platform in high-density seat configuration. We have great trust in the benefits and efficiency of our A321 system. In an earlier trial with another airline, we weighted savings of almost 300 kg of trapped condensate water in one Airbus A321 aircraft. Our market is growing as more airlines operate with better aircraft utilization, higher passenger aircraft load-factors and high-density aircraft seat layouts.”

The Zonal Drying system removes trapped water in blankets, keeps the crown area dry and prevents unwanted excess weight from water accumulation – phenomena which can affect all passenger-carrying aircraft. Hereby, on every flight airlines can operate with lower energy needs and less pollutant emissions. Lowered excess aircraft weight of 200 kg, reduces block fuel consumption by around 0.4%, resulting in fuel savings of approx. 25,000 liters per year per aircraft, cutting carbon dioxide emissions by more than 65 tons. Additional costs savings comes from lower repair costs of moisture related damages in electrical components and equipment, repair/replace of blankets and reduced down-time due to electrical failures.

A 300 kg weight reduction on the Airbus A321 aircraft from the Zonal Drying™ system generates the following advantages:

  •  Lowers fuel burn with estimated 0.6% and CO2 emissions with approx. 95 tons per aircraft per year with fuel savings of approx. 38,000 liters per year;
  •  Higher operational reliability from significantly lowered moisture related faults in electrical equipment (reduced Out-Of-Service time and repair costs).
  •  Lower rate of insulation blanket replacement.
