For Immediate Release: June 2013

Custom Art, under the direction of new president Teresa Sutton, has received national certification as a Women’s Business Enterprise by the Women’s Business Enterprise Council – Great Lakes, a regional certifying partner of the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC).

After becoming President and majority owner, Sutton, daughter of founder Keith Hanson, took the necessary steps, including an in-depth business review and onsite inspection, to become certified by the WBENC, achieving the designation in February 2013.

Custom Art is joined with only nine other companies in Fort Wayne with this valuable certification, and is the only WBENC certified printer among them.  There are only seven printers certified in the state of Indiana.

“I am very proud of my WBENC certification and on becoming President of Custom Art.  My plans are to continue to run the company with the same integrity it has had for over 50 years,” says Sutton. “I will use my WBENC status and printing knowledge to continue to grow our local and national clientele while maintaining the family business reputation.  I am very proud that our company has been family owned and family operated for this long.”

Sutton also plans to increase Custom Art’s offerings by adding more unique equipment and staying on the cutting edge of technology, as well as continue to add great people to the family business. “It’s great to have people visit our facility and say ‘Wow, I didn’t know you did all this here!’ I think that’s my favorite thing about all this.”

The Women's Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) is dedicated to advancing the success of Corporate Members, certified Women's Business Enterprises (WBEs), and government entities in partnership with its Regional Partner Organizations (RPOs).  WBENC is the nation’s largest third party certifier of businesses owned and operated by women in the United States and is a resource for the more than 700 US companies and government agencies that rely on their certification as an integral part of their Supplier Diversity programs.

Sutton re-joined the company in 2003, running the front office until 2010 when she became the vice president of marketing and sales.

She is also active with the WOWnet, a local, exclusive women’s networking group, Greater Fort Wayne Chamber of Commerce, National Association of Professional Women, and likes to help various local charities when possible.

“Fort Wayne is a great community for families and for small businesses.  I look forward to what the future holds for all of us.”
