Rio Oil and Gas Expo and Conference

Riocentro, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Sept. 17-20, 2012

Lodge.: Anexo 4
Booth Number: 430/431

Trelleborg will showcase its extensive product portfolio at the leading biannual oil and gas industry event, Rio Oil and Gas in Brazil, Sept. 17-20 at booth 430/431.

The Group will exhibit a number of new technologies at the exhibition, including the next generation of its well-established Vikotherm subsea thermal insulation material, innovative spring-energized seals designed for use in severe and unpredictable downhole environments where complex blends of caustic chemicals are found, and specially designed oil hoses for CALM buoy, deep-sea and gas applications.

In addition to its popular Elastopipe and Drill Riser Buoyancy Modules (DRBMs), Trelleborg will exhibit its high-performance Vikotherm II. This offers improved elasticity, as well as enhanced process and manufacturing flexibility, as the system can be applied on-site anywhere around the world. Utilizing all the benefits of the first-generation solution and taking them a step further, Vikotherm II has a k-value of 0.13 W/mK, can be used down to 9,842 feet/3,000m deep and utilized on liquid temperatures up to +311 °F/ +155 °C, as well as external temperatures as low as -31 °F/ -35 °C.

Sealing products featured will include the innovative Trelleborg Turcon® Variseal® spring-energized seals, which are ideal for use in oil and  gas applications, particularly in severe and unpredictable downhole environments. These will be displayed alongside its unique XploR™ range of EDR materials, again specifically formulated for the oil and gas industry.

From the hoses product range, the TRELLINE oil offloading lines (OOL) transfer system will be showcased. Developed alongside SBM Offshore, the innovative system pioneers the use of bonded hoses to provide the cargo transfer link, removing the need for rigid steel pipelines or flexible unbonded long-length systems. The TRELLINE unique solution was purposefully developed to provide long service operation of 10 to 25 years, not only for deep-water configurations, but also for CALM buoy and gas applications.

Continually developing new and innovative solutions designed to seal, damp and protect in demanding offshore environments, the oil and gas industry remains a key focus for Trelleborg. This commitment is further demonstrated by Trelleborg’s new facility in Macaé, Brazil, which will be officially opened Sept. 13 and dedicated to the production of a wide range of syntactic, buoyancy and polymer-based solutions for offshore topside and subsea oil and gas exploration.

Trelleborg’s long-term strategy to invest in markets with encouraging growth potential meant that following the major oil and gas discoveries that have been made off the coast of Brazil in recent years, increasing our presence and customer support in this key region was the next logical step,” says Thor Hegg Eriksen, Business Unit President of Trelleborg Offshore.

The installation of what will be the largest privately owned hydrostatic pressure testing vessel in the world at the new site, further demonstrates this long-standing commitment to developing innovative new product and material technology, specifically designed to withstand the harshest offshore environments.”

“Brazil is a key region for our industry, and as such, we will inaugurate a new facility in Santana de Parnaíba in October 2012,” says Technology and Quality Manager at Trelleborg Oil and Marine Hoses, Elisabete Askinis Wilhelm. “This new facility will focus on specially designed oil hoses for surface and deep-sea applications for the strong, growing offshore oil and gas extraction industry in Brazil, and represents an important step in our quest to strengthen our presence in this significant area.”

“Rio Oil and Gas provides the ideal platform for us to bring our pioneering solutions for challenging applications directly to the people who can benefit from them most in this up- and-coming region,” says Oil and Gas Segment Manager for Trelleborg Sealing Solutions Americas, Eric Bucci. “We are excited to be able to showcase the Trelleborg Group as a whole at what is set to be a great event for everyone.”

Rio Oil & Gas Expo and Conference is a leading oil and gas industry event in Latin America that takes place at Riocentro Convention Center in Rio de Janeiro every two years. The event provides the opportunity for companies from across the globe to display their products and services and network with their peers.

Trelleborg in Brazil

Trelleborg’s stand at Rio Oil and Gas will demonstrate the organization’s already strong presence in Brazil.

In September 2012, Trelleborg opened a new offshore facility in Macaé that boasts the largest privately owned hydrostatic pressure testing vessel in the world. In 2011, through its Trelleborg Engineered Systems business area, Trelleborg acquired a business that focuses on specially designed oil hoses for surface and deep-sea applications located in Santana de Parnaíba. Trelleborg will inaugurate this and a new co-located facility for its printing solutions in October 2012.

Trelleborg Wheel Systems supports agriculture with high-end tires designed specifically for large agriculture sectors like soybeans, corn and sugarcane, as well as industrial tires for the growing forklift sector. Its main sales offices are located in Lençóis Paulista and São Paulo, which is also home to the Trelleborg Wheel Systems headquarters for Latin America. Trelleborg Sealing Solutions has a manufacturing facility and sales office in São José dos Campos that develops, manufactures and supplies high-performance sealing solutions for aerospace, automotive and industrial applications.

There are also major automotive facilities in the strategic locations of Guarulhos and Taubaté that are part of TrelleborgVibracoustic, the joint venture in antivibration solutions for light and heavy vehicles.
