Angående Christian Salvesen Plc Följande meddelande har idag offentliggjorts i Storbritannien. >> STATEMENT RE POSSIBLE OFFER FOR CHRISTIAN SALVESEN PLC ("CHRISTIAN SALVESEN") On 21 June 2000 AB Custos ("Custos") announced that it, together with a leading private equity provider, had approached the Board of Christian Salvesen and proposed the terms of a possible cash offer at 180p per share subject, inter alia, to a Board recommendation and being provided with limited due diligence information. This offer was rejected by the Board of Christian Salvesen. Since that date Custos has revised its offer and communicated to the Board of Christian Salvesen that it is prepared to increase its cash offer to up to 200p per share, representing a premium of up to 65 per cent. to the share price on 30 May 2000, the date of the original proposal. A continued participation in the equity and a loan note alternative were also proposed, principally to address the tax position of members of the Salvesen family and to provide them with a significant uplift in annual income. Despite the significant premium values offered, the Board of Christian Salvesen declined to enter into substantive discussions concerning an offer of 200p. Accordingly, Custos is unable to proceed with an offer at this time. Custos reserves the right to review the situation if an offer is recommended by the Board of Christian Salvesen or following the announcement of an offer by a third party for Christian Salvesen or if there is a material change of circumstances. Christer Gardell, Chief Executive of Custos, commented: "We regret that the Board of Christian Salvesen has again rejected proposals to acquire the company at a significant premium. Given the long history of poor performance of Christian Salvesen's shares in 'non bid' periods this decision is hard to understand.
