Cyber Com's bank evaluation for 2001: Only three Internet banks are able to meet the overall needs of private customers The study shows that Sweden's leading Internet banks are Skandiabanken and SEB, followed by Nordbanken and FöreningsSparbanken. These banks have a broad, simple and accessible on-line service offering. The requirement stipulates that the banks must offer business and savings accounts, security deposits, fund deposits and mortgages over the Internet. In addition, most of the following products - fixed interest accounts, unsecured loans, life insurance, Link-insurance (allowing you to invest your insurance premiums), pension insurance and IPS (individual pension savings) - should be available so as to provide the customer with a good overview of his or her financial position. "Our study shows that not all banks work at the speed required by the new media," comments Björn Julin at Cyber Com. "Customers are now doing the work that bank clerks used to do, such as registering bills, transferring money and buying and selling securities. The customer wants to work in real time and therefore does not accept some banks' routines that involve paper-based source material and handling times running into several days." In order to make an objective comparison of the Internet banks, their services are graded with the help of a quality index. The index is based on customer surveys and the result shows that customers prioritise simplicity, service offering, costs and accessibility.
