Cybercom gets order from Clear Channel Cybercom won an order from Norway's Clear Channel. The contract covers development of a wireless communication solution for bicycle rentals. The system manages rentals at Clear Channel's bicycle stalls on the French market. The deal is initially worth about NOK 1 million. "This is an exciting concept and a new segment for Cybercom," says Mats Alders, president and CEO of the Cybercom Group. "Clear Channel's Smartbike concept is timely. And it's proof that Cybercom's services for the mobile-technology market are on top of the trends and increasingly in demand by a broader customer segment." Through the Smartbike concept, users can rent bicycles from Clear Channel's bicycle stalls as many times as they wish, for a maximum of three hours each time, at a reduced price. Cybercom is developing a solution that enables data and transactions to be transmitted via an encrypted general packet radio service (GPRS) to a server that registers who is using the bicycle and who locked the bicycle. Cybercom's solution also enables customer support and service - alarms are transmitted, as needed. And the system processes credit card transactions. "Cybercom has extensive expertise within development of wireless applications and development of reliable payment solutions," says Jan Tore Endresen, director at Clear Channel Adshel AS. "That's why Cybercom was a natural choice as a partner." Clear Channel has operations in 65 countries, and extension of the current order is highly possible.
