Cybercom seeks to grow with LinkedIn’s #WelcomeTalent

“LinkedIn’s Welcome Talent initiative is amazing! It makes it easier for newcomers to find internships in Sweden. We see this as an opportunity for Cybercom, for newcomers and for better integration in Sweden,” says Niklas Flyborg, President and CEO, Cybercom. “In the IT world we speak a universal language, without barriers between countries, cultures, genders, social backgrounds, age or religion. Diversity is our best ingredient, a facilitator for developing innovative solutions.”

Sweden has long been a driving force in digital development. Programmers are the most common profession in Stockholm, and demand is increasing every day. However, it is expected that by 2020 there will be a skills shortage of 60,000 IT professionals in Sweden. The competition for talent is already very intense.

“Seeing the whole world as our recruitment base is a natural part of how we work. In 2014, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon visited Cybercom to see how we work with labour migration. We have welcomed interns for a number of years, and just a few weeks ago we hired a refugee from Syria - Hicham. But it has been difficult to reach out to newcomers. Welcome Talent will help us to reduce the skills gap,” says Cecilia Westerholm Beer, Head of Group HR at Cybercom. “The greatest support that business can offer in integrating newcomers is to welcome them into our companies. This is an important element in being able to address the large flow of refugees. I am proud that we are taking a lead in this at Cybercom, and I would encourage more companies to do the same – it enriches us and helps us to find new talent,” continues Cecilia.

Cybercom works with Connectivity. We are convinced that a connected world strengthens the human being, the environment, business and society. It enhances the exchange of knowledge and creates democracies in our society - and in communities distant from our own. Through digitalisation, we take steps of knowledge to excluded urban and sparsely populated areas - both in Sweden and in all corners of the world. Jobs and internships are a major and important part of the integration process. LinkedIn’s Welcome Talent (welcometalent.se) is opening a key meeting place for companies and newcomers. It contributes to integration and allows us to grow with the skills we require.
