Cybercom signed a long-term partnership agreement with SOS Children's Villages and will finance a major part of the activities at a primary school for 200 children in Gikongoro, Rwanda during two years-time.

“Cybercom prioritises Corporate Social Responsibility ¬– we will behave responsibly in all countries and in all situations in which we operate," says Patrik Boman, president and CEO of the Cybercom Group. “We are an internationally growing knowledge company. It feels extremely important that our support of SOS Children's Villages can contribute to knowledge development in a country where we have ongoing projects. Education is the basis for a child's intellectual, emotional, social and physical development and, most importantly, provides opportunities to escape poverty.” SOS Children's Villages is committed to helping vulnerable children worldwide. They help orphans and abandoned children, and give them a home, a family, and an education. SOS Children's Villages has been active in Rwanda for 30 years. The Gikongoro primary school was established in 1992. Its six classrooms educate 200 children from the SOS Children's Village, its family strengthening programmes, and the surrounding neighborhood. The primary school has doubled in size since it opened. Recently, the school purchased computers to assist teachers and to teach the children to use computers. “We are very glad that Cybercom wants to support our efforts to help vulnerable children around the world,” says Marcus Norberg, acting secretary-general of SOS Children’s Villages. “We really value their involvement in our school. Education is vital to raise a country’s chances of escaping poverty.” Cybercom's partnership with SOS Children's Villages is a long-term cooperation with ongoing activities. All of Cybercom’s subsidiaries have committed to the Gikongoro Children’s Village. Their joint commitment allows Cybercom to make a greater impact. Cybercom's commitment to SOS Children's Villages gives employees a sense of pride. Recently, Cybercom's employees on assignment in Rwanda made a very rewarding and emotional visit to the Children's Village in Gikongoro. “All of Cybercom's subsidiaries around the world made a joint commitment to the SOS Children's Village in Gikongoro,” says Kristina Cato, communications director and IR manager at the Cybercom Group. “The intense energy we see internally for this commitment is amazing. Our staff sees this as a very positive initiative, and they want to contribute to this important cause.” Photos from Cybercom employees visit in Gikongoro are attached to the press release.
