Cyclyx Announces the Addition of Plastics Industry Experts to Executive Advisory Board
New executive board members bring valuable experience to help drive company’s mission of increasing recycling of post-use plastic
PORTSMOUTH, New Hampshire, USA, March 29, 2021 – Cyclyx International, a consortium-based feedstock management company with a mission to increase the recyclability of plastic from 10% to 90%, today announced the addition of Steve Russell and Paul Turner to its Executive Advisory Board (EAB).
The EAB is a team of industry executives and thought leaders that are committed to help advance and scale Cyclyx’s innovative approach to significantly increase the recyclability of post use plastic. Russell and Turner bring decades of executive experience advising and managing organizations operating in the plastics value chain and advancing plastic sustainability and solutions to plastic waste.
“At Cyclyx, we have an ambitious mission to transform the way plastic waste can be used as a renewable resource. We are bringing chemistry expertise, new supply chain concepts and a consortium approach with a goal to greatly increase the amount of waste plastics that can be recycled. The extensive expertise and relationships that Steve and Paul bring to the EAB will be instrumental to help progress our current solutions to advance the circular economy for plastics,” stated Joe Vaillancourt, chief executive officer of Cyclyx.
Russell is the former vice president of the American Chemistry Council (ACC), who led the plastics division for more than a decade and was an early and leading voice for advancing plastic sustainability and solutions to plastic waste. While at ACC, he played a crucial role in helping to conceive and operationalize the Alliance to End Plastic Waste. Russell also oversaw the division’s sustainability programs, scientific research, and public outreach. He was instrumental in forming the World Plastic Council and the expansion of the Global Plastics Alliance.
“Meeting society’s goals for plastics circularity will require new business models and improved logistics to get recyclers the materials they need,” Russell said. “Cyclyx has developed a unique approach to deliver innovative supply chain solutions to dramatically accelerate recycling rates, and I’m excited to support the Cyclyx team by joining their Advisory Board.”
Turner is a former senior executive in the Chemical Industry, having worked with companies such as DuPont, LyondellBasell, Hoechst AG, Borealis and The Dow Chemical Company. He was chairman of the Polyolefins Group with Plastics Europe, the European Plastics Association. Turner was instrumental in forming the Polyolefins Circular Economy Platform (PCEP), a value chain approach to drive the circular economy for polyolefins in collaboration with converters, brand owners, recyclers and waste management companies.
“I am very excited about the opportunity to work closely with the Cyclyx team to help accelerate the circular economy and reduce plastic waste,” Turner said. “I believe Cyclyx’s strong value proposition together with its collaborative approach will reshape the industry supply chains for plastic waste feedstock to enable growth for its business as well as its value chain partners.”
