Seeking: A playwright who can write for the animation adult puppet theatre!

Animation adult puppet theatre has become the signature genre of our Copenhagen based theatre, Baadteatret. During the recent 8 years, we have constantly been developing our style and examined the possibilities within this genre. We do not underestimate our audience. We have staged performances about alcoholism, texts written by Grundtvig, Shakespeare, Homer and even an autobiography by the Danish writer Erling Jepsen. We have shown that the poetic form can easily merge with grave subjects.

Whom do we seek?
- A playwright who can write for the animation adult puppet theatre.
- A language of the genre; a challenging, poetic and strange language that will take the puppets to unconquered land without losing the audience.
- Words that will bring the setting alive. Texts that will uncover the wounds and the safe secrets of people and nations.
- A playwright with a mission to put life into dead things.
- A play seeking to burst all bounds; technical, dramatic and structural.

And what is a drama for the puppet theatre?
A text freed of psychology, geography and freed of rigorous demands in plot, time and space.
A text, freed from the law of gravity or other physical and psychological laws.
A text where everything can happen. As long as the message, story or wish comes through.

This is what we want and this is why we ask you for your help.

If your play is elected as a winner, the theatre will produce it during the season of 2015/2016

Rolf Heim, artistic manager of Baadteatret, says:
“Animation Adult Puppet Theatre can - through its creativity – create space, images and situations that are entirely different from those in classical and traditional theatre. The physical impossible becomes possible; the performance is enchanting and seducing without being naïve or childish.
It has brought back the poetry, we thought had been engulfed by the computer and cyberspace…”
