In the upcoming season, the Danish National Opera will present La bohème and Così fan tutte, two of the most loved operas which will tour the country with Denmark’s five regional orchestras. The autumn of 2014 will see the presentation of the romantically tragic world of Giacomo Puccini’s La bohème – perhaps the world’s most admired opera and a perfect show for all ages and all types of audience. In the spring of 2015, the audience can also experience Mozart’s Così fan tutte in a beautiful production of one of the finest operas about the hard choices of young love. The audience will get a unique experience with a new initiative from the Danish National Opera: Democratic Opera. The audience will be able to vote if they want to see a classical or modern production! Annilese Miskimmon will leave the choice to the audience…

The Danish National Opera will also be touring with an opera concert adapted for the stage, Live & Love with the Chorus of the Danish National Opera. This is an opera concert with some of the finest arias and greatest scenes from famous operas staged by Annilese Miskimmon. The Chorus of the Danish National Opera can also be experienced in August together with Aalborg Symphony Orchestra at the concert Opera in Rebild and in Christmas Songs and Sounds of Brass with the Prince of Denmark’s Brass Ensemble - both now traditional yearly highlights for audiences. For families with children from 8 and up, the Danish National Opera in co-production with Limfjordsteatret will stage the new show At the End of the Tunnel which is a magical experience about searching for a friend.

The season of the Danish National Opera ends with a staging of Janácek’s Jenufa at the Concert Hall Aarhus in August 2015, directed by Annilese Miskimmon. Following the success of Janácek’s Katja Kabanova (’13), the company is now presenting his masterpiece Jenufa, the story of an abused woman who forgives all out of love and creates meaning from her ruined life.
