DANNEMORA IRON ORE MINE DRY EARLIER THAN EXPECTED

Draining of the Dannemora iron ore mine is now completed, which represents a major step towards making the mine operational again. After eleven months of preparations, the draining process began in May 2009. The water level is now down to the planned 470-metre level, which means the project has finished just over a month earlier than originally planned. A total of 3 million m3 of water has been pumped out.

The main levels at 350 and 460 metres are now accessible and this means that preparations can start for the impending installation work.
