Sorting plant measures increase yield
Investments in the sorting plant at the Dannemora mine have had the intended effect, resulting in an average increase in weight yield of at least three percentage points.
The previously announced action programme, aimed at increasing the yield in the sorting process, was completed during week 23. The goal of the investment – to increase the yield by 3 percentage points – was achieved during the three-week period after the installations were taken into use. The project was a success and was completed faster (week 23 instead of week 27) and at a lower cost (SEK 25 million instead of SEK 30 million) than planned. The project included the installation of two new separator stages to increase the yield and the installation of an ore bin in front of a crusher for optimised crushing. The investments, which also allow separation of waste materials to take place earlier in the process, have made it possible to increase throughput at the sorting plant by over five percent. Work aimed at achieving a further increase in the yield continues with the planning and design of investment stage two.
