DAVID LLOYD LEISURE ROLLS OUT ORANGETHEORY® FITNESS GROUP TRAINING TO FURTHER LONDON SITES
City commuters to get one-of-a-kind workout taking the US by storm
David Lloyd Leisure is bringing the unique Orangetheory® Fitness interval group training programme to two more London sites in January, including a high street studio catering for City workers.
Europe’s premier health, sports and leisure group, which exclusively holds the UK and Ireland licence for Orangetheory Fitness, will introduce commuters to the one-of-a-kind workout when it opens its fourth David Lloyd Studio in Aldgate.
It will be the group’s second high street studio to offer Orangetheory, which has been taking the US by storm with what is the country’s first franchise studio concept to use heart rate monitored training for scientifically proven results.
David Lloyd Leisure first launched the exercise programme in the UK at David Lloyd Studio in Islington, north London, in August 2013.
The high street studio model aims to give time-pressed clients easy, daily access to exercise and nutritional services on a non-membership basis with flexible payment options offered.
The group will also unveil Orangetheory Fitness group training for the first time in a club environment at David Lloyd Enfield, north London. Classes will be offered to members alongside a comprehensive range of racquets, health and fitness facilities, services and programmes.
Orangetheory is a fun and effective workout for up to 24 adults, of all ages and ability, designed to help achieve personal fitness goals. Each unique 60-minute session comprises intervals of cardiovascular and strength training, producing a huge metabolic increase and burning up to an average of 500-1,000 calories per session with extra calorie burn for up to 36 hours after each workout.
The programme features three components - treadmills, rowing machines and weight training blocks - with sessions set to upbeat music and using heart rate monitors to track performance and optimise cardio and resistance training. Benefits include weight loss, improved fitness, increased stamina and muscle endurance.
Hazel Geary, David Lloyd Leisure’s business development director, said: “Orangetheory Fitness group training is incredibly popular with exercise enthusiasts all over the US because it is great fun, challenging and delivers amazing, scientifically proven results.
“We are very proud to be the only health and fitness operator working with Orangetheory Fitness to roll out this groundbreaking workout to the UK market. It has been hugely successful since its market debut at our Islington studio and we are delighted that more people in London will be able to try it very soon, thanks to this further investment.
“The new David Lloyd Studio at Aldgate will enable City workers, whose busy lives don’t allow much time for exercise, flexible and easy access to a unique, innovative programme that will help them to achieve their health and fitness goals as part of their daily routine.
“We are also very pleased to be able to offer Orangetheory group training to our members at David Lloyd Enfield, enhancing the comprehensive array of exercise classes available to them, as well as gym, racquet sports, swimming, and family facilities, services and programmes.”
David Lloyd Leisure launched the David Lloyd Studio concept in September 2012 - the first initiative of its kind by a major health and fitness operator in the UK.
David Lloyd Studio provides clients with David Lloyd Leisure's internationally renowned expertise in high street locations on a non-membership basis, with flexible payment options offered.
Two personal training studios are located in Putney, south-west London, and Winchester, Hampshire.
