New DLicious dishes to kickstart season of healthy eating

David Lloyd Leisure has launched a new and improved DLicious menu to welcome in the warmer months, featuring an array of tasty, paleo-inspired, healthy and balanced dishes to support members’ well-being from the inside.

Europe’s premier health, sports and leisure group has further enhanced its food and beverage offering with more fresh and natural meals, snacks and drinks to enjoy in club or take away.

The DLicious: Fast Fitness Food concept integrates David Lloyd Leisure’s approach to eating with its expertise in helping people achieve their health and fitness goals through sport and exercise. The menu caters for all members, from those in need of a quick snack while on the move, to a healthy meal for the whole family or exercise enthusiasts who want to eat the right foods pre- and post-workout.

The new menu focuses on a ‘naturally good food’ ethos, and features dishes which use only the highest quality ingredients. A bespoke children’s menu, which contains at least one of a child’s five a day requirement in each main meal, and a delicatessen range have been launched to complement the main menu.

New additions include:

Smoothies

Beet & Berry Boost; Vitamin Kick; Super Green; Pomegranate Energiser

Each smoothie is made to order and freshly blended at the counter by the DLicious team, and can be enhanced with coconut water.

Breakfast

Fresh Fruit Salad with Candied Quinoa and Honey Lime Dressing; Pancakes with Blueberry & Candied Quinoa; Chorizo, Kale & Goat’s Cheese Frittata; Banana & Date Loaf

DLicious has been developed by a dedicated team of chefs, nutritionists and health and fitness experts at David Lloyd Leisure to help members meet their core nutritional and lifestyle needs.

The DLicious concept is inspired by the Paleolithic approach to eating, and aims to help members feel energised throughout the day. The dishes are designed to help members reap the rewards that come with eating the right kind of carbohydrates, protein and essential fats in the right proportions (40:30:30) to improve physical performance and well-being. The menu now also follows an easy-to-read ‘key’ to help members choose the right dish; vegetarian, inspired by Paleo or 40:30:30.

Kevin Harper, David Lloyd Leisure’s group head of food and beverage, said: “We strive to give our members the best quality from start to finish and this new menu will support them from the inside out, improving their well-being with fresh, tasty and healthy seasonal dishes.

“We’re continually looking at ways to further improve and innovate our food and beverage offering, which aims to support our members’ health and fitness goals and takes into account their very valuable feedback, and I’m delighted that our new DLicious menu offers an even greater choice of dishes for the whole family to enjoy.”

David Lloyd Leisure won the leisure category of the Menu Innovation and Development Awards (MIDAS) for DLicious in 2014. The awards, bestowed by the Menu Innovation Network, recognise the outstanding creative talents of menu development managers and group executive chefs in the food service industry.

* The Mexican Black Bean & Chicken Soup won the bronze award for best new starter at the British Frozen Foods Federation awards held in 2012.
