- creating Scandinavia’s leading e-commerce payment service provider The boards of Swedish DebiTech and Danish DIBS have decided to merge. The merger will create Scandinavia’s leading e-commerce payment services company. DIBS – DebiTech is during 2006 expected to handle 4,000 customers’ transactions with a value of SEK 30-40 billion.

The reason behind the merger is that the profitable companies DebiTech and DIBS have identified major economies of scale and scope in merging rather than continuing to operate separately. The market for payment services within e-commerce continued to develop strongly during 2006 without any sign of slackening. The new company will be even more competitive, have a stronger position in the Scandinavian market and be well placed for further expansion and growth. “Together we will be stronger. We have previously considered expanding and setting up offices in Denmark and Norway. Through the merger and the resultant economies of scope, we will now be able to reach these markets more quickly. DIBS will also reap the same benefits. For our joint customers, we now have an even stronger range of products and services,” says Eric Wallin, the new MD of DIBS - DebiTech. DebiTech was founded in 1998 and everyday handles over 1,000 customers’ transactions. DIBS was founded in 1999 and everyday handles over 3,000 customers’ transactions. After the merger, DIBS – DebiTech will operate from offices in Stockholm, Copenhagen, Oslo and Gothenburg. “Like my colleagues, I am looking forward to working for a large company. DIBS and DebiTech have similar backgrounds and are leaders in their respective domestic markets. The merger will give us a stronger range of products and services to offer our customers. As a larger company, we will also be able to target development resources better through our ability to launch new products and services more quickly. Moreover we will have a strong platform for further geographical expansion, organically and through acquisitions,” says Jesper Lohmann, Chairman of DIBS. "The structural merger is good business logic and creates Scandinavia's strongest player. The merger will add value for both DIBS and DebitTech shareholders," says Ulf Peterson, Chairman of DebiTech.
