Company Announcement No. 12-2021:

About DecideAct A/S [ACT]

We are pleased to announce that DecideAct now enters into a new business field as we have signed with the first public municipality and are welcoming Kópavogur Municipality in Iceland as a DecideAct customer. The contract aims at coordinating the overall Strategy Execution Management within the municipality securing line of sight from City Council to individual operational units and institutions within the municipality.

Kópavogur is the first municipality in Iceland to formally embrace the UN Global Goals into its efforts for sustainable development, while at the same time increasing the efficiency and transparency of municipal administration. The municipality's data-driven approach to addressing the UN Global Goals includes efforts to develop local dashboards, indexes, and indicator datasets, such as a proprietary version of the Social Progress Index (SPI), ISO 37120 Platinum certification, quality data on sustainable community development, and the Child-friendly City Dashboard.

The municipality will use the DecideAct solution to coordinate the approach to implementing the overall strategy and ensure an overview and alignment from the City Council to individual operational units with reference to the UN Global Goals. With Kópavogur as a pioneer in embedding the sustainability goals in its overall strategy and plans, the task will include linking the Global Goals framework and the operational strategy in a combined top-down program management as well as a bottom-up employee commitment to systematically adapt operations to achieve the goals.

CSO and Co-founder of DecideAct, Bjarni Snæbjörn Jónsson states: “For DecideAct, the contract with Kópavogur Municipality is an important strategic step as it represents a good case when we promote our solution to organizations in the public sector.”With a population of nearly 40,000, Kópavogur is Iceland’s second-largest municipality. It is located just south of the capital Reykjavik and is part of the Capital Region. Kópavogur has been growing rapidly in the last two decades, benefitting from positive growth dynamics in the southwest of Iceland. Around 2,500 people are employed in the administration and the municipality services.
