£1.2bn construction phase of military accommodation project completed

The construction phase of a £1.2bn project to improve the living accommodation of single service personnel has just completed after 12 years. The Single Living Accommodation Modernisation project, better known as Project SLAM, has been one of the largest new build and refurbishment projects in the UK and has delivered successful renovations and constructions on 52 locations from Scotland to Cornwall. 121 separate projects have improved or created more than 22,000 bedspaces in this time. MOD Stafford has marked the completion of a £150 million programme of work to redevelop the base for soldiers and their families. Soldiers move into new homes at MOD Stafford

Soldiers and their families are moving into hundreds of new homes built for Service personnel relocating to MOD Stafford from Germany. Lance Corporal Richard Neely of 16 Signal Regiment was among the first of the arriving soldiers to be presented with the keys to his new house by Col Richard Maybery QGM, the Deputy Commander of Headquarters 11 Signal and West Midlands Brigade.
