DIO awards estate contract for Scotland & Northern Ireland

The Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) has announced that it has awarded a contract valued at £152million for the Scotland and Northern Ireland as part of its Next Generations Estates Contract (NGEC) programme. The Scotland and Northern Ireland Prime contract has been awarded to CarillionAmey Ltd and will operate for a minimum of five years. It will deliver repair and maintenance services to the built estate across 30 sites in both countries. Barn Owls get new lease of life at Northern Ireland military ranges

Barn owls in Northern Ireland are being given a new lease of life, thanks to the help of Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) staff at Ballykinler Training Area and the Ulster Wildlife Trust. Range staff at Ballykinler have been working with conservation experts to construct and build 12 bespoke barn owl nesting boxes around the training area. A fascinating glimpse into how troops trained for the trenches of World War One has been uncovered at Ballykinler Training Centre in Northern Ireland. Rare moth thriving at Northern Ireland training centre

One of the UK’s rarest moths is healthy and thriving in the heart of a military training area in Northern Ireland, according to a recent survey. The annual Scarce Crimson and Gold moth survey took place at Magilligan Training Centre, near Coleraine,County Londonderry.
