Overhead fire tower brings realism to troops’ training

Soldiers training in Wales are training under more realistic battle conditions – thanks to the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) building a new facility to simulate overhead fire. Previously, during live fire exercises, firing was directed over the heads of troops on the Individual Battle Shooting Range (ISBR) from the roof of the range building at Sennybridge Training Area (SENTA). Soldiers using a military training area inWaleswill benefit from more comfortable and energy-efficient accommodation – thanks to the latest phase in a Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) improvement programme. Building refurbishment work at Sennybridge Training Area (SENTA) completes next month (July). Work started in February on the third and final stage of the project to improve facilities for visiting troops, reduce running costs, and improve energy efficiency.
