DeLaval installs 100th PR3100HD Rotary in the United States
DeLaval leads the country with the largest amount of rotary installations
MADISON, WI (October 3, 2017) – The industry’s high-capacity milking workhorse recently rounded the corner on a major milestone when DeLaval North America installed its 100thDeLaval PR3100HD rotary in the US earlier this summer. The majority of the installations occurred in the last six years, which is a testament to the gaining popularity of rotary milking as well the quality and dependability of DeLaval’s best-selling rotary solution.
Solberg Dairy in Elk Mound, Wis. received the 100throtary after owners Kurt and Larry Solberg agreed to upgrade their double-8 DeLaval herringbone parlor with a 32-stall PR3100HD. The family was looking to efficiently expand their operation with a milking solution that could eventually be partly automated with a DeLaval teat spray robot (TSR).
“The biggest benefit to the rotary is the speed of it,” says Kurt Solberg. “Close behind that would be cow comfort and employee comfort. It just works.”
The Solbergs expanded their herd to 500 cows after installing the rotary and now milk three times a day. According to Kurt, milking in the old parlor used to take seven and a half hours. Now it takes just four. “I’ve cut milking time by about three hours, but I’ve added about 100 cows. My employees think it’s a lot easier, too.” He adds, “It’s comfortable and quiet – the cows like it.”
