The countdown has begun: Two days until the Astra Tech World Congress in Gothenburg, Sweden
Mölndal, Sweden, May 7, 2012 – In just two days, Astra Tech's third and largest world congress will start. When 3,000 participants from 50 countries arrive on May 9, it will also be this year's major corporate event in Gothenburg, Sweden.
“We have an outstanding scientific program and look forward to an exciting congress with clients and speakers from all over the world,” says Lars Henrikson, Senior Vice President Marketing & Business Development at Astra Tech.
“Gothenburg is not only the hometown of Astra Tech, it was here it all begun with Per-Ingvar Brånemark’s discovery. In his groundbreaking research, he discovered that titanium was able to integrate with human bone; he coined the term osseointegration and it was the birth of modern implant dentistry. It is therefore especially exciting to welcome our international attendees to Gothenburg,” Lars Henrikson continues.
The comprehensive scientific program, based on the theme "Creating the future by going back to the roots", will enable knowledge exchange between international researchers, clinicians and the dental team. More than 150 speakers from all over the world will present their latest research results, and in the Scientific Committee Steering Group you will find world-renowned scientists Jan Lindhe, (Sweden), Tomas Albrektsson (Sweden), and Christoph Hämmerle (Switzerland).
During the world congress, there is collaboration between Astra Tech and WaterAid, an independent organization that enables the world’s poorest people to gain access to safe water and sanitation. The goal is to collect SEK 500,000, and for every Swedish krona donated Astra Tech will match it, for a total of SEK 1,000,000.
“One million Swedish kronor give 5000 people access to clean, safe water and sanitation for life. This initiative is in line with our values and our corporate responsibility commitment,” says Gunny Kron, Head of Global Marketing at Astra Tech.
