The Macdonald Aviemore Highland Resort is set to host its first ever Muay Thai Boxing event this coming Saturday, 13th March 2010.

The Macdonald Aviemore Highland Resort is set to host its first ever Muay Thai Boxing event this coming Saturday, 13th March 2010. Rumble in the Glen, which is the first in a series of events showcasing martial arts in Scotland, is being hosted in the Osprey Suite at the Macdonald Aviemore Resort and will open its doors at 5pm, with the first fight at 6pm. There will be eight fights in total on the night, making for an action packed event schedule. John O’Brien, secretary of the Scottish Thai Boxing Association, said: “We’re really excited about the forthcoming event at the Macdonald Aviemore Resort. It promises to be a fun and entertaining evening which will showcase the Muay Thai as a highly skilled martial art; and being able to host the event at such a prestigious venue will make a huge difference to impact we make - raising the profile of the sport across Scotland.” There will also be a Sport Relief auction with a two-night B&B stay at the Macdonald Aviemore Resort plus a white water rafting experience for two, up for grabs on the night; and a raffle. Muay Thai is a hard martial art from Thailand and is the country’s national sport. Moray Muay Thai, a member of the Scottish Thai Boxing Association, runs classes in Forres, Elgin and Nairn; and Strathspey Thai Boxing runs classes in Grantown and Kingussie.
