Boë Gin secures ASDA Listing

ASDA welcomes the arrival of boutique Scottish Brand, Boë Gin, to the shelves of its Scottish stores from 17th October 2010. The superior, delightfully refined gin will be available at RRP of £24.99 for a 700ml bottle. Whilst Boë prides itself on having a solid brand history dating back to Gin’s inception in 1658, the forward-thinking and contemporary brand was short-listed earlier this year at the annual Scotland Food and Drink Awards. Graham Coull, co-owner of VC2 Brands of which Boë is a part, said: “we are very pleased to be one of the companies which has been selected by ASDA to supply a range of locally produced lines to all of its Scottish Stores. We very much hope this to be the start of a long and successful relationship with such a prestigious retailer.” Produced in the village of Doune and blended in one of Scotland’s oldest distilleries, Boë Gin is a superior blend of hand-picked botanicals and spices that include coriander, anglelica, ginger, orris root and wild cassia bark. The subtleties of Boë Superior Gin are all in the selection and preparation of its botanicals - that fine balance of herbs and spices which are crucial to its distinctive taste and quality. Boë Superior Gin is produced using GM free natural ingredients and distilled in small batches using rare Carterhead Still's where unlike many gins the flavours are vapour infused delivering a superior quality and depth of flavour. This process allows the Master Distiller to highlight key botanicals important to the citrus nose and orange peel flavour of Boë Superior Gin. History of Boë Gin The history of Boë Superior Gin goes all the way back to 1658. It was that year, in search of a medicine to ‘cleanse the blood of impurities’ that the famous professor Franz de la Boë came up with a unique recipe. He created a totally new infusion of grain alcohol, juniper berries and botanicals to produce a tonic that he was sure would cure ‘one third of all diseases”. What he’d invented – was Gin! Serving Suggestions: DRINK IT – Boë’s perfect pour; the classic ‘G & T’ Gin and Tonic but with a twist. Fill a tall glass with ice, add 25ml of Boë Superior Gin, rim the glass with orange peel, top with indian tonic water and garnish with fresh orange peel. MIX IT – ‘The Mussolini’. In a tall glass add 6 leaves of fresh mint, 25ml Boë Superior Gin, half a teaspoon brown sugar, gently muddle. Fill with crushed ice, top with Canadian ginger ale and stir with a bar spoon. COCKTAIL SHAKE IT – The Boë Martini. Chill a martini glass with ice. In a shaker add ice a dash of angostura bitters, a dash of dry vermouth, 25ml Boë Superior Gin and shake! Empty out the ice from the martini glass, strain the contents from the shaker and garnish with an olive on a cocktail stick.
