Charlie Quinn, Operation Director at Grangemouth-based Fasco, along with his daughter Georgia, aged 17; took part in the annual Great Scottish Santa Run in Edinburgh raising £500 for the When You Wish Upon a Star charity last weekend (12th Dec). Charlie and Georgia were amongst almost 1000 Santas that took part in the one mile run around West Princes Street Gardens on Sunday, helping to raise thousands of pounds for the charity. When You Wish Upon a Star specialises in making dreams come true for children with life-threatening illnesses. The proceeds from this year’s Great Scottish Santa Run will go towards helping send 400 terminally ill kids from around Scotland to Lapland to meet the real Father Christmas. Charlie decided to get involved in the event having watched Georgia take part for the past three years. He said: “My wife and I took Georgia along to her first race three years ago and I was touched by the video on the big screen, showing the kids’ visit to Lapland – it was enough to put a lump in anyone’s throat. Georgia and I decided then that we would do the run together.” Charles and his daughter managed to raise £500 for the charity thanks to the support of the staff at Fasco. Commenting on this success, Charlie said: “Following on Fasco’s immense generosity this year, we have decided to organise a group charity event next year with the timber and packaging divisions of the company.” Fasco are very much involved in supporting charities, and over the past year have donated to Yorkhill Chrildren’s Hospital, SANDS and St John’s Cancer Care unit. ENDS Notes to Editors Fasco is a member of the Scott Group and with its head office in Grangemouth, Fasco also has retail outlets in Stirling and Shetland, as well as an online shop.
