As part of Scotland Week, which took place between 1st and 10th April, McIntosh Foods invited Scottish Primary School pupils to celebrate Tartan Day 2011 by designing their own unique tartans. The competition received a fantastic response with entries from Primary Schools all over Scotland and Ian Clarke, Sales Director for McIntosh, commented: “We were delighted with the enthusiasm for the competition and the high standard of entries, so selecting winners was no easy task. However, we felt that Megan Humphries (Primary 4) from Clatt Primary School, Aberdeenshire, proved to be exceptional with her original and well-crafted design”. Lucky school pupil, Megan, was awarded a hamper full of goodies from McIntosh to take home, and a cheque for £200 was also presented to the School by the Scottish food brand. The teacher leading the project at Clatt Primary School, Mrs Chalmers said “We are all very proud of Megan. All the pupils thoroughly enjoyed taking part in the competition, which also contributed towards Curriculum for Excellence across a number of subjects. Clatt is a very small, rural school and this award means a great deal, particularly since it is a Scotland-wide competition.” Ends Image: Primary 4 pupil, Megan Humphries, with her tartan design.
