Press release 07th September 2010 Taste Northern Ireland Event returns to Belfast with a colourful twist The Tesco Taste Northern Ireland event has joined forces with Belfast City Council’s annual Garden Gourmet Show to become The Taste Northern Ireland Garden Party, Belfast’s newest food, drink and floral show! This FREE event, jointly organised by Belfast City Council and Tesco will take place at Belfast’s Botanic Gardens on Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 of September from 11am to 6pm. Visitors to the show over the weekend which showcases Tesco’s local producers will be able to take a culinary tour of the region, browsing delicious food stalls representing the best of Northern Ireland produce, meeting producers, company owners and sampling local food and drink from all over Northern Ireland. Alongside the finest food from the best local producers visitors will also find Belfast City Council’s Autumn Flower Show. Caoimhe Mannion, Marketing Manager for Tesco in Northern Ireland said: “Following the success of our inaugural Tesco Taste Northern Ireland food show last September, we're delighted to join forces with Belfast City Council's former Garden Gourmet event to create Belfast's newest food, drink and floral show. “The quality and passion of local food and drink producers is something that the Tesco team based in Northern Ireland has the privilege of working with every day, and we are proud that our purchasing has grown from £50m worth annually when Tesco arrived in 1997, to over £480m worth annually today. “We are delighted to be able to showcase the excellence of local food and drinks companies, and their products to a large consumer audience in the Tesco marquee at the Taste Northern Ireland Garden Party”. There will be 2 main areas at the event: The Tesco Northern Ireland suppliers marquee – including favourite local companies such as • Dale Farm, Clandeboye Yogurt, Morelli’s Ice Cream, Glens of Antrim Potatoes, Ashers Baking Company, Fivemiletown Creamery, Punjana, McCann Apples and Avondale Foods.
