Designing Spaces special “Kids Spaces of Hope – A Labor of Love”  is set to transform the children’s activity center at Kids In Distress

WILTON MANORS, Fla. (June 5, 2012) Designing Spaces airing on Lifetime has announced its Dream Team will make over the children’s activity center at Kids In Distress of Broward and Palm Beach counties, a nationally accredited agency working for the prevention of child abuse, preservation of the family and treatment of children who have been abused and neglected.

In the Designing Spaces special “Kids Spaces of Hope – A Labor of Love Makeover,” the Dream Team will create a brand new activity space filled with books, games and a snack station. The goal is to create a beautifully designed, safe, warm and educational environment for the children and to help foster their love of learning.

“The ‘A Labor of Love’ project means so much to our children, families, supporters and staff here at Kids In Distress. It is a testament to the relevance of our mission that Designing Spaces has taken an interest in what we do to serve our community,” said Kids In Distress Marketing Manager Brittany Soule. “I can’t wait to witness this transformation which will have such a powerful impact on the daily lives of the young children in our center.”

Hosts of Designing Spaces Debbie Marie and David Jones will reveal the new activity room on Friday, June 15. Characters Clifford the Big Red Dog and Babar – King of the Elephants from Scholastic books famous children’s stories and mascot Stanley C. Panther of the Florida Panthers will also join the fun at the reveal.

“The Designing Spaces Dream Team is overjoyed and excited to be doing this makeover for Kids In Distress, in order to help highlight their dedication to the amazing work they have been doing in the community for years,” said Executive VP of Programming and Chief Operating Officer of Designing Spaces Lysa Liemer,.  “In tight economic times funding for programs is limited and money for the ‘extras’ is hard to come by.  We want to provide our strong helping hands to make a difference in the lives we touch by giving the gifts of hope, comfort, and care, and to successfully nurture and preserve the health and wellness of vulnerable children, which is a true labor of love.”

In addition to Designing Spaces, project sponsors include RIF: Reading is Fundamental, Carl Budding, Proctor & Gamble and GTP flooring.  Additional donations are provided by Sanyo, Nintendo and U-Haul.
