Report this content

MostlyManx founder Dian Skelton has called upon talented artisans of the Isle of Man to star in the 2015 Artisan Directory.

Isle of Man, UK - MostlyManx already has a fantastic variety of 68 skilled artisans, but this marks the first time in its five year history that MostlyManx has actively seeked artisans.

So if you specialise in a traditional trade, craft or are a foodie please contact dian@mostlymanx.com. It is free of charge and each artisan gets their own page. All that’s required is a photo and a little time spent composing the editorial with the MostlyManx team.

For more information about what is required please see the current artisans page. Below are a few examples of current MostlyManx artisans:

Allan King - The Laxey Blacksmith – Allan has been creating beautiful and practical items in a variety of metals at his workshop in Laxey for over twenty years.

Jackie Skelly – Manx Inspirations – Formed seven years ago, Manx Inspiration is operated by local business woman Jackie Skelly. Focusing on the rich heritage and culture of the Isle of Man, they take inspiration from Celtic features and indigenous Gaelic language for many of their gifts.

John Wood – The Laxey Woollen Mills – John took over the Mills following his father’s retirement and he still continues to weave the famous Laxey Manx Tartan. John is the only commercial pattern weaver on the Island and one of the few skilled Manx handloom weavers still remaining.

Will Faulds & Charlotte Traynor – The Apple Orphanage – Will and Charlotte founded the Apple Orphanage in 2009 to make quality, handcrafted, Manx beverages on the Isle of Man using locally sourced Manx ingredients.

Karl Berrie – Cocoa Red – Karl is the main force behind the Isle of Man’s first fine Chocolate Company, Cocoa Red. Since its launch in September 2009, Cocoa Red is extremely well known on the Island and has built up an excellent reputation for producing only the best chocolate and chocolate products.

Peter Birch – Manx Fudge Factory – The Original Manx Fudge Factory is based in Ballasalla and is the only fudge and toffee producer on the Isle of Man. They now make over 21 different flavours of Manx fudge and 6 different flavours of toffee.
