Digia and Productivity Leap join forces to create the preconditions for powerful growth, especially in the social welfare and healthcare sector

Digia has a strong foothold in the social welfare and healthcare industry, and the acquisition of Productivity Leap further strengthens Digia’s capabilities as a comprehensive digitalisation partner. The acquisition enables new growth, particularly in social welfare and healthcare, where Digia sees potential for expansion in the coming years.

Press release 27 June 2022 at 9:30 a.m. EET

On 27 June 2022, Digia Plc and Productivity Leap Oy signed an agreement whereby Digia purchases Productivity Leap’s entire share capital. The acquisition is planned to be completed on 1 July 2022. With the acquisition, Digia will be strengthening its expertise in knowledge management, which is in increasingly high demand, and its ability to serve its customers in an ever more comprehensive way, particularly in the social welfare and healthcare sector.

Productivity Leap has grown rapidly in the past few years. In 2021, the company’s net sales grew by 88 per cent and its operating margin was 21.5 per cent. The company offers IT consulting services with a focus on knowledge management, low-code, integration and robotics services, as well as tailored application development. Productivity Leap’s customers include regional joint municipal authorities and future wellbeing services counties, such as the joint municipal authorities for social and health services of Central Uusimaa and North Karelia, as well as hospital districts such as HUS. Productivity Leap also serves customers in a wide range of other sectors, such as industry, public administration and the financial sector, and its customers include Traficom, Fintraffic, DigiFinland, 2M-IT, Istekki and Broman Group. Productivity Leap permanently employs 56 top experts at its offices in Joensuu, Helsinki, Tampere, Turku and Kuopio.

“Digia and Productivity Leap share a powerful drive to grow, and we see particularly significant opportunities for growth in the changing social welfare and healthcare sector. Productivity Leap has a large customer base and a strong market position especially in the public sector, and their well-honed industry expertise will increase our competitiveness in public sector tendering,” says Janne Tuominen, Senior Vice President at Digia.

“Digia’s acquisition offers Productivity Leap a fantastic opportunity to continue in our rapid growth. It allows both of us to take on bigger and more complex projects and customer relationships in both the public and private spheres in areas such as industry and the financial sector. The prospects for our sector are extremely good, and the investments that companies and other organisations are making in digitalisation and knowledge management continue to grow. Together with Digia, we will be able to produce more comprehensive service packages that will be available in one place by adding their wider service offerings to our services,” says Productivity Leap’s CEO Kari Natunen.

The parties have agreed not to publish the acquisition price. Productivity Leap’s net sales for the financial period ending December 2021 was approximately EUR 5.5 million. The acquisition will have no impact on personnel. Productivity Leap Oy will continue to operate as its own company and is one of Digia Plc’s subsidiaries. Productivity Leap’s figures will be consolidated with the Digia Group from the beginning of July 2022.
