DIGIA REORGANIZES QT BUSINESS AND MOBILE RELATED CONTRACT ENGINEERING FUNCTIONS

Digia has in August signed an agreement to acquire the Qt software technologies and Qt business. Qt is a leading cross platform application framework.

As a result of the transaction, which closed today, a total of 89 Qt professionals in Germany, Norway and Finland have joined Digia. Consequently Digia will now review and re-organize its Qt operations. As a part of the review, Digia is also re-assessing its mobile related contract engineering function and whether the talent can be utilized within its Qt operations or in its other business areas.

Because of the reasons mentioned herein, Digia is initiating cooperation negotiations. Within the cooperation negotiations are the personnel employed in the Qt operations and mobile related service functions in Digia’s Helsinki, Tampere, Jyväskylä and Oulu offices. In total, 88 employees are affected by the negotiations. The Qt professionals that are transferring as a result of the Qt acquisition are not affected by the negotiations. The negotiations can result in personnel reductions, converting full-time employment to part-time or temporary layoffs.

The company employed 971 individuals at the end of August. This number does not include Qt professionals that have transferred as a part of the Qt acquisition. The company has transferred and will continue to transfer employees within the Qt operations and mobile related services functions that affected by the re-organization to the company’s other business areas.
