DIGIA’S COOPERATION NEGOTIATIONS COMPLETED

Digia Plc. has completed the cooperation negotiations it began on 18 September, aimed towards reorganization of the company’s Qt and mobile contract engineering business. As a result of the negotiations, Digia will downsize a maximum of 56 employees belonging mainly to mobile contract engineering business, from the sites in Helsinki, Jyväskylä, Oulu and Tampere.

Personnel reductions will be carried out gradually, for the main part by end of year 2012.

The company estimates that the support measures and staff reductions will entail a one-off expense of approximately EUR 0.5 million, which will be expensed in the company’s result for the fourth quarter of 2012.

Digia has in August signed an agreement to acquire the Qt software technologies and Qt business. Qt is a leading cross platform application framework. As a result of the transaction, Digia had a need to review and reorganize its Qt operations. As a part of the review, Digia also reassessed its mobile related contract engineering function to see whether the talent can be utilized within its Qt operations or in its other business areas.

The company employed 1036 individuals at the end of October.
