Digia selected as NATO's framework agreement supplier – there is international demand for Finnish IT expertise in the defence and security sector
The framework agreement enables Digia to participate in the most important tendering processes and procurements carried out by NATO and its member countries. It opens up significant new international business opportunities and is a consistent step in implementing the company's strategy and expanding the Defence business.
Digia has signed a significant framework agreement with the NATO Communications and Information Agency (NCIA).
In the future, the company will be a supplier approved by the Alliance and will be able to participate in all tenders and procurements carried out by NATO and its member countries, especially concerning the common IT infrastructure and IT and digitalisation development.
"This framework agreement is a significant and consistent step in the implementation of Digia's internationalisation strategy", says Timo Levoranta, CEO of Digia Plc.
Digia has been selected as a framework agreement supplier among the first Finnish companies. The selection was subject to the approval of NATO and the Finnish security authorities.
"It is great to be part of the group that exports Finnish defence and security sector expertise to the world. Digia's extensive expertise as a provider of intelligent digital solutions enables us to participate very comprehensively in the future tenders of the Alliance", says Harri Suni, Director of Digia's Defence business.
Interest in intelligent and secure digital solutions and new technologies
Digia has decades of experience in developing digital services for the defence and security sector. In 2022, the sector's expertise, solutions and customer relationships were concentrated in the Defence business, whose largest customer is the Finnish Defence Forces.
The Defence business has grown steadily since its establishment. Under Suni's leadership, the next phase is being built in which expertise will be expanded and opportunities for international cooperation strengthened. In this way, customers can also be offered new kinds of solutions and expertise.
"Finnish expertise in the defence and security sector is valued internationally. Demand for expertise and new innovations is increasing in a constantly changing security environment. There is demand, especially for intelligent and secure digital dual-use solutions, as well as for utilising new emerging technologies, such as autonomous systems and artificial intelligence applications", Suni says.
According to Suni, the Finnish industry now has an excellent opportunity to participate in international cooperation, increasing our national security.
"Finnish companies should take advantage of this opportunity in close cooperation while at the same time building a new kind of cooperation culture. Together, we are always stronger", Suni adds.
