SysOpen Digia to Reinforce its Board through Expertise in International Business and Product Business

SysOpen Digia’s major shareholders will propose to the Annual General Meeting on 28 February that Martti Mehtälä and Eero Makkonen be elected new Board members and Pekka Sivonen, Kari Karvinen, Mikko Terho, Pertti Kyttälä and Matti Mujunen be re-elected to the Board.

‘The company aims to achieve a markedly stronger position as an ICT provider and an outsourcing partner with companies in Finland by 2010, while extending its home market to cover Northern Europe’, says Pekka Sivonen SysOpen Digia’s Board Chairman.

‘SysOpen Digia already operates on a global scale in selected business areas. During the current strategic period, we aim to strengthen our offerings further in the field of mobile and real-time information systems. The proposed new Board members will provide us with plenty of experience in international business and product business, which is highly relevant to the implementation of our strategy.’

Born in 1957, Martti Mehtälä, M.Sc. (Tech.), has acted as Microsoft Oy’s General Manager since 1995 and previously held managerial positions in sales and marketing at Nokia Data and ICL Data Oy, and acted as Dava Oy’s Managing Director and Computervision Inc.’s Country Director. He has over 25 years’ experience in IT applications, sales and marketing in various industries, as well as wide experience in co-operating with the most extensive IT partner network in Finland and working with a large number of foreign partners.

Mr Mehtälä also sat on the National Information Security Advisory Board, set up by the Ministry of Transport and Communications, and on the National Board of Economic Defence. He has announced that he will stand aside as Microsoft Oy’s General Director in the summer of 2007.

Born in 1946, Eero Makkonen, B.Sc. (Eng.), is one of the most experienced and distinguished company executives in the construction industry. He acted as the Managing Director of Insinöörirakentajat Oy, Haka Oy and Skanska, previously chairing the latter’s Board of Directors. He has held a variety of positions of trust, such as duties in the Confederation of Finnish Construction Industries, as member of Pension Insurance Company Ilmarinen’s Supervisory Board, as member of the Savonlinna Opera Festival’s Board of Trustees and duties in the Confederation of Finnish Industry and Employers.

As a Board professional, Mr Makkonen chairs Hansatroi Oy’s and Vicus Capital Advisors Oy’s Board of Directors and sits on the Board of Tulikivi Corporation and Rapala VMC Corporation, chairing the latter’s Board between 1999 and 2005.
