Press release Stockholm 2020-09-07

The Swedish legal tech company digip® launches a SaaS solution that simplifies and streamlines the management of trademark protection and domain management. The need for trademark protection is ever increasing as 85 percent of all brands have experience of infringement. By digitizing trademark protection processes into an intuitive SaaS solution, entrepreneurs and established businesses are provided the opportunity to register, protect and monitor their trademark rights worldwide.

“With more than 25 years of experience in the trademark industry, digip® are committed to make the necessary investments required to challenge a traditional and conservative industry. We digitize and make our advice available to everyone and create cost-effective alternatives for companies that want to invest in their brand, with a simplified process for brand protection", says Viktor Johansson, CEO and one of digip's® founders.

digip® was founded in 2019 with the aim of simplifying and challenging an industry that has not kept up with the pace of digital innovation. In the first version companies will be given the opportunity to free of charge search if their trademark can be registered in Europe, and then for a small fee, get professional help to get the trademark registered. To proactively protect the trademark, trademark monitoring is included, and it is possible to register domain names and manage technical services to proactively protect the digital assets of the brand.

The three most common consequences of infringement of a trademark are customer confusion, lost revenue, and reputational damage. 45 percent of customers being confused by several similar brands, 38 percent of the affected companies have lost revenue and 37 percent have had their brands' reputation and trust damaged. Of the companies that are exposed to infringement, about three quarters lead to litigation. Nearly half of the companies that have been involved in trademark litigation have to re-brand because they have not secured trademark protection before launching their business. The time it takes to re-profile your company is estimated at about 4 months and at the same time drives costs and human resources, according to Clarivate CompuMark, a company that specializes in brand analysis.

Through the platform, digip® reduces the problems surrounding trademark disputes, as it becomes easier and more cost-effective to register and have a complete overview of their trademark and domains.

"By combining innovative technology and expert advice, we create a proactive, cost-effective and protective brand strategy that enables all types of companies to gain full control of their intellectual property portfolio." says Christian Vierling, COO and one of digip's® founders.

digip® development and operations have so far been financed by the VC company Antler, the business angels Pop Invest, Niklas Alm and OVM Invest as technical co-founder.
