LapGuard is a laptop radiation shield that doubles as a laptop cooling pad and/or lap desk. It's the first product of its kind in the consumer electronics industry.
Digital Innovations CEO Collin Anderson explained that laptop radiation is a growing concern among consumers. According to a recent third-party survey commissioned by the company, more than half of all laptop computer users are concerned about radiation emitted from laptops when using them on their laps.
“Recent reporting in magazines such as Women’s Health and Men’s Journal suggest that radiation and heat emitted from Wi-Fi enabled laptop computers can be harmful to reproductive health,” Anderson said. “Though the science is not yet conclusive, we developed LapGuard to provide peace of mind for the growing number of heavy laptop users who are concerned about potential health effects. And we did so by incorporating radiation shielding in a way that also provides comfort to the user and promotes laptop life.”
To the casual observer, LapGuard looks like a high-quality lap desk. It features dual USB-powered fans to help keep the computer’s internal processors cool. It also features breathable padding on the underside to promote airflow to the computer as well as keep the user’s lap cool and comfortable.
What really sets LapGuard apart from standard lap desks, though, is its grounded metal plate, which, besides conducting laptop heat away from the user’s legs, is specially designed to reflect Wi-Fi radiation away from the sensitive reproductive area.
