Digital Mobility launches InHand to Swedish mobile users WAP portal partners with Tele1 Europe to offer network-neutral access to travel and information services March 8 2000: - Digital Mobility Inhand AB today launches its InHand wireless portal (www.inhand.net) today in Sweden, offering travel, financial and other information services to WAP phone users across the country. Through the InHand portal, busy executives can enjoy "any time, any place" access to high-value information services via their WAP mobile handset, including latest worldwide flight information from OAG and near-real time share price information from Standard & Poors Comstock. The new service is launched in partnership with operator Tele1 Europe, who are providing local connectivity with Digital Mobility InHand's WAPHUB from Tele1's GSM network across Sweden, Denmark and Norway. InHand's operator neutrality means that all WAP handset-equipped users can access the InHand portal, regardless of their own mobile phone network subscription. Digital Mobility InHand AB will be announcing further service additions to the InHand portal in the coming months, including banking and other transactional capabilities that are enabled by the unique abilities of the WAPHUB to provide a secure, encrypted access environment for WAP commerce. Accessing InHand is simple, requiring only simple over-the-air configuration of any WAP handset to connect automatically to the InHand portal's point of presence via a handset menu option. Connection and set up times are fast, significantly reducing user wait times and speeding access to desired information. The Nordic launch of InHand coincides with a major marketing drive by Nokia for its recently launched 7110 WAP handset. Full page advertisements in three Swedish national newspapers feature a 7110 displaying Standard & Poors' Comstock near-real time share price information as provided by S&P to InHand. "With nearly 20% of all mobile handsets expected to be WAP compatible before the end of this year, the demand for timely, relevant, useful information and transactional services is going to be immense", says Krister Jörlén, Managing Director of Digital Mobility InHand AB. "Recognising this enormous opportunity across Europe, we've focused on providing an operator neutral service offering to maximise the reach of the InHand brand to all WAP phone users. whatever their mobile network subscription." The Swedish launch precedes rollout of the InHand brand to mobile users in the UK later this month, and will be followed by other service launches across Europe later this year.
