Dimension acquires Danish system integrator Dimension is strengthening its Nordic presence by acquiring the Danish IT company Benau Danmark's system integration division. The acquired operations generated a turnover of approximately SEK 150 million in 2000 and have 35 employees. The purchase price is SEK 14.5 million, along with a conditional cash payment up to a maximum of SEK 7.5 million, based on the earnings of the acquired operations. Benau, which was established in the late 1980's, is one of Compaq's largest partners in Denmark and focuses on server solutions and data storage as well as related support and consulting services. The system integration operations have a strong position among clients in the public sector, research/education and industry/retail, with references that include universities, research institutes, unions and government agencies/municipalities. Benau has two offices that are included in the acquisition, one in Hörsholm outside Copenhagen and the other in Skanderborg in Jutland. "Benau is a very well-managed company with great competence in system integration and strong client relations," says Sven Uthorn, Managing Director of Dimension. "Its business model and corporate culture are in line with Dimension's, and the acquisition provides important synergies in terms of clients and technical know-how. The companies' client segments complement each other, and with Dimension's experience in business-critical solutions for telecommunications and banking & finance we can work together to build a strong position in the Danish market. Through the acquisition, Dimension gains a major foothold in Denmark and takes a further step toward its overall objective of becoming the leading supplier of business-critical systems and integrated solutions in the Nordic countries and Baltic region." The acquired operations will be consolidated in the Dimension Group as of September 1 and, as planned, will be renamed Dimension Denmark A/S. The goodwill that arises as a result of the acquisition is estimated at slightly over SEK 14 million and is scheduled to the amortized over five years. The Managing Director of the company will be Per Sevrell, who will also remain Southern Regional Manager at Dimension. Benau's network operations, which are not part of the transaction with Dimension, were acquired at the same time by the Swedish IT company Cygate.
