Dimension expands in the Baltic region The IT integrator Dimension has established a subsidiary in Lithuania as the first step in its geographic expansion in the Baltic states. Dimension's aim is to gain a leading role in the growing Baltic market as an integrator focused on infrastructure for the banking and finance, TIME (Telecom, Internet, Media, Entertainment) and public sectors, among others. In the past ten years Dimension has grown by nearly 70 percent a year. One element in its strategy to ensure continued strong development is a geographic expansion in the Nordic and Baltic regions. The new Lithuanian subsidiary is being established in cooperation with Compservis UAB, Dimension's local partner for several years. "The expansion of IT infrastructure in the Baltic states is generating great demand for suppliers with proven competence in integration solutions," says Sven Uthorn, CEO of Dimension AB. "We are playing a role at the start of this growth process, and thanks to our previously established cooperations with local companies we have a good understanding of the market. This is naturally a big advantage for our long-term efforts." Dimension has had a cooperation agreement for several years with the Lithuanian system integrator CompServis. One of the country's largest IT companies, CompServis has a long history and is active primarily in high technology and fast-growing areas such as banking and finance, industry and the public sector. Among the shared clients of the two firms are VilniusBank, the electrical utility Lietuvos Energija and the Lithuanian Department of Statistics. Dimension's new subsidiary is being formed by spinning off and expanding CompServis' core operations in infrastructure solutions. The company, which is 51-percent owned by Dimension, will be called CompServis Open Systems. The vice-director will be CompServis' current vice-director, Richardas Pivoriunas, and the head office will be located in Vilnius.
